In cooperation with our friend Kay Suzuki at Time Capsule, we are thrilled to announce that Gabrielle Roth & The Mirrors: Selected Works 1985-2005 is now available for download on Bandcamp and at RavenRecording.com.
This sweeping retrospective has been remastered for the 21st century and features ground-breaking percussive ambient recordings to induce altered states of consciousness through ecstatic dance. Gabrielle Roth & The Mirrors were a world unto themselves.
“At times the recordings have a Middle Eastern flair, at others, West African and spiritual jazz modes come to the fore. Hints of kosmische musik, proto-house and electronic ambience are laced like LSD through the organic rhythmic structures. This is kaleidoscopic ambient music to stir the body and free the mind… a variety of genres, styles, and vibes within their catalogue, whether it is emotional, esoteric, spiritual, melancholic, hypnotic, dark, or at times a combination of these elements together.” -- Time Capsule

Ours is a world beat music without a world, made for a dance without steps, for a tribe without
boundaries.
We started recording percussion-driven music in the early 80's to support the 5Rhythms as a dance practice. Since that time we have created twenty albums, each rooted in one or all of the 5Rhythms. We wanted to capture the spirit of the drumming so that people could dance with us....more
Across these songs, Ethiopian jazz, African psychedelic rock and funk, Sudanese dance rhythms, and Tuaregi grooves mingle with the jazz and folk traditions of the Americas. Bandcamp Album of the Day Mar 19, 2019
